The Surface meaning- The ad begins in a man talking to women, saying to look at their man and then back to him he then says "sadly he isnt me, but with Old spice he could smell like me." Then he goes on to say that with Old Spice anything is possible.

The Advertisers meaning- The Advertisers are trying to make Women beilieve that their man needs to smell like this great man in the Ad.

The Cultrual meaning- This Ad depicts how women think men should be. It shows a Man who is good looking and very confident, He says "Sadly your man isnt me" meaning that women want their man to be like him

The Surface meaning- The Ad starts out as a man and a son sharing a bowl of salsa from across the counter. They begin to slide it back and forth until the mom walks in and the Salsa spills. The mom sighs and begins to smile and cleans the counter.

The Advertisers meaning- The advertisers are trying to show a everyday family having fun and making a mess. They show how their product can handle everyday messes  no matter how big they are.

The Cultural meaning- This shows how Women depict themselves by the Mom being confident and kind of the "adult" around her mischivous husband and son. She is the one who has to clean up, yet she doesnt complain to much because she loves her family.

The Surface Meaning-  The commercial shows Carrol Shelby getting into a Shelby Mustang. He proceeds to talk about why he chose the Mustang as the basis of his new car. He then gets in and drives off in front a blond woman who jumps out and begins to ask questions about his mustang. He then hops in and walks off.

The Advertisers meaning- The ads meaning is to show the creator of Shelby mustangs reason for picking the Mustang for his car. Then it shows that people would be intrested in you if you buy this car.

 The Cultural Meaning[- The cultural meaning is showing that women will be intrested in you if you buy this mustang, they depict women as intrested in Men their cars.

• A Game of thrones by George R.R. Martin

Commentary: The book A game of thrones is of a genre that i normally like. The game of thrones is Mystery, romance, and adventure all rolled into one. I enjoyed the HBO series they did of the book. I also like the cover of the book, its very pretty.

• Going after Cacciato by Tim Obrien

Commentary: The Book Going After Cacciato intrests me because its centered in the vietnam war. Ive Always been intrested in war and diffrent storys and views about diffrent kinds of combat and the reasons for combat. Also I never knew that men would sneak off to Paris to get away from the war.

• Band of Brothers Stephem E Ambrose

Commentary:Band of Brothers is about a company of paratroopers in World War 2. Ive always been intrested in this war because so many men died for our freedom. Also if we had lost this we would not have america. I also enjoyed the HBO series about these men who sacraficed their lives for this wonderful country.

• The Odyssy by Homer

Commentary: Ive always enjoyed anciant greek mythology and always have wanted to read the Odyssy. The Odyssy intrests me because it was written or spoken thousands of years ago. The Odyssy is about the Trojan war and the journey home of a warrior in that war. Ive also seen the movie the Odyssy and really enjoyed that.

Commentary: Ive always been intrested in Sci fi and futuristic type books and movies. Ethan told me about Dune as I was writing this paper. Dune is about a futuristic population who control many planets and hold dearly to "spice". Ive also always enjoyed Star wars which seems to be similair to this novel.

• The Road by Cormac Mcarthy

Commentary: The road is about a world after nuclear war and diasease has struck. A father and son are trying to survive in this new enviroment. Post-apopalyctic books and movies have always intrested me because its just cool to see what might happen. How would you survive this harsh enviroment?

• The Hobbit by L.R.R. Tolkien

Commentary: The Hobbitt is a fantasy, and adventure novel about a hobbit who sets of with a company of dwarves who set off in adventure. Ive enjoyed the other Lord of the Rings movies and look forward to seeing the Hobbit come out as a movie. Ive alread read all of the books, but now that im older i feel i need to read them again.

• City of thieves by David Benioff

Commentary: The City of thieves intrested me because I enjoy these types of books. The City of Thieves is about a boy captured by Soviets in lendingrad. He is told he has to find 12 eggs for his life. I am intrested in this book because it is based in one of the most famous battles of world war 2.

• The Lord of the Rings Triology by L. R. R. Tolkien

Commentary: I have enjoyed the movies about The Lord of the Rings, and have read these books before. I just feel I need to re read these books now that I am older. The Lord of the Rings is about a Ring that Frodo Baggins must take to morodor to the top of mount doom to destroy the ring.

• Neverwhere by niel gaimen

commentary: Neverwhere intrested me because its about a man who does a seemless act of helping a young girl, but that throws his life out of wack. This intrests me because I like books like this because they show diffrent ways to look at the world. This one seems kind of wacky but I think ill give it a try.

Forgivness

If I were a man on the Titanic in the last moments about to die. I would not be thinking about forgivness. I would be finding something to float on. I would be trying to survive. I would not blame the people in the lifeboats because I just put my wife and children on that life boat and everyone else on it were  doing the same as me, trying to survive. I would not blame anyone for the Titanic sinking, cause how did they know it would sink? For someone to be blamed they would have to have known about the Titanic sinking and then not done anything about it. So in my last moments of life I savor the last memories of my children and wife. Knowing that they are safley rowing away. With no one to blame there would be no one to forgive.

In Simon Wiesenthals Novel The Sunflower he uses the termonology “God is on leave.”(wiesenthal 9) This brutally discribes Simons feeling to what the world is doing to him.He says that at first “it is impossible to break a man's firm beilef,”(wiesetnthal 9) but he slowly gets worn down from all the opression. I believe that if you truly believe in your faith then you wouldnt fall. You would hold on to that faith till the end knowing that if you gave up on your faith then you have lost your last comfort. But when you condemn that faith saying that “God is on leave”(wiesenthal9) then you really didnt ever truly believe in that faith. Later on Simon says that he meets a man names Boleck. Boleck “indured the most inhuman treatment”(wiesenthal80) because of his faith. Yet “his faith was unbroken.” (Wiesenthal9) Boleck shows that God is not on leave, only their faith was broken. They were overwhelmed by the sheer inhumane treatment that the nazis did to the Holocost victims.Many people fell off their faith during the hollocost but those who truly believed in their faiths used them to get them through the terrible times.

To forgive or not to forgive

A man executes his best friend in order to save him from an angry mob.

You may be angry at this man who killed his friend, but maybe he was saving him. Had the angry mob gotten his best freind then they would have tortured him, so when this man killed his friend he really did him a favor giving him a more humane death then being tore apart by a mass of humanity. He should be forgivin. He saved his friend from a terrible death.

As I walk around the city.

I see the homeless, the hungry, the sick.

They are people after all

All have their own stories

All have their own pasts

All stare blankly, like the moon on a cold windless night

The present has left them behind

I see the homeless, the hungry, the sick.

Failure at a poem

Failure on a poem

I try again and again

Its seems I am doomed from the start

It seems that this poem I am writing takes me apart.

As I try over and over to be more clever than the rest

I realize that this poem is one of the best

I am no longer failing at this so called art

Because this poem was awesome from the very start.

 Now that I’m finished it seems that the canvas is clear.

This art that has fooled me now soothes the ears.

I hope my skill has left you to want more

For surely soon my teacher will assign me four-score.
